Door Speakers

Ok, Kinda odd, but do the door speakers only produce bass? I don't seem to be hearing anything else from them. Only the dash and rear speaks are producing treble. Im thinking about ditching the 6 speaker set-up and just going with a 4 speaker set-up with 6.5" speaks all the way around.

bass in the doors

the bass you are experiencing in the doors is because of the wiring. You will have to bypass the stock amp which is behind the dash speaker on the drivers side if you dont want the doors emitting solely bass.
you wont be able to go 6.5 all around. the dash will only fit 4" (thats whats there now and the space is limited. I dont know about the door ( i think 6.5 will fit in the s5 but not the s4 cars) and you can go up to 8" i believe in the rear towers.
good luck

My car is a 89 GXL and it does not have the amps in it, I've had that checked out, so I have no idea why no treble is going to the doors. That's what I though at first, but the guys at the local audio shop who are very knowledgable especially about rx7's said that mine dont have the stock amps in it.

The amp in my 90 GTU was located on the passinger side under the dash to the right of the speaker. When I got the car the door speakers wern't working. We pulled the amp out (it's easy to bypass, just take the connectors going in and out of it and connect them togther.) But now there's like no bass what-so-ever, sounds bad. Messing with the amp we were able to get some bass but it was all distored. I'm assuming that if I get some different speakers in the door it'll solve my bass problem.

Also has anyone else had any problems with installing an aftermarket deck and having it blow your illumination fuse constantly when your lights are on?? Im having that problem so I think Im just going to wire my deck (yellow wire) directly to the battery. I was told by local auto shop that that will do it.

I was also told that our cars are grounded differently and that our cars 2nd gen, cant hold the power of an aftermarket deck so theres to much power running through teh illumination fuse so hence wiring the illumination wire on deck directly to the battery. Anyone fixed this problem before? Im trying to get a nice system going here, but this is stopping me from making it clean/being able to listen to music at night.

One more thing, If I dont have the CD player on when the lights are on the fuse won't blow. So that's why im without music at night, when I want it most.

If you have bypassed the factory amp and are using one that is after market try the wiring harness on the back of your head unit. you probably have your speaker amp hooked up to your sub output. Solution reconnect to the speaker output on your head unit from your speaker amp input. People do this all the time with their subs and wonder why the subs aren't louder. It also could just be that your speakers aren't connected well. Check your positive and negatives.

Fuses are blown usually by a surge of power through a bad connection. Most amps have a surge protector on them and will turn off when it detects such a change in voltage. The power is being redirected alot of times back to the fuse by the battrery, that power has to exit somewhere so it fins the weakest link your fuse. This happens when there is a bad ground or the power chord from your battery has been damaged. Your power chord can be damaged from anything hot enough to melt away it's plastic cover. Manifolds are a common killer.

Hey, it could just be your head unit.

good luck.

Forgot: Get a cap for your system it will keep your lights from dimming and may keep your fuses in tact. Hook it up as close to your amp as possible.
