Door Speaker Wiring?

How did everyone wire up their new speakers? I am completely replacing the amps in my bose system, however when I look to get into the door, there is a plug that I have to go through. I amthinking of just using the existing wire and splicing it where I need it, but if there is another way I would love to hear it.

Thanks for the help,
Bart

DUDE!! I went through the same pain when trying to run my wires for keyless entry in my FD.

Here's what I did to get the wires through the door.

1) Take off door panel
2) Remove the pin in the door - use hammer force in an upward direction (one that prevents door from opening too wide)
3) Take off the four bolts (12mm I think) holding the door to the hinge (you might need a helper to hold the door while you do this)
4) Pull door slightly away from body and rest it on a milk crate or something. Have helper hold the door for the next 40 or so minutes while you take care of the wires. (I had my little brother do this for me - hahahaha)
5) Pull the rubber snake’s end cap away from the body. Now you will see the connector.
6) Identify any two empty spaces in the connector and use a drill bit to enlarge the hole. This is so your speaker wires can be run though.
7) Run the wires using a metal coat hanger.
8) Reassemble in reverse order.

I removed the door mainly because I could not get my drill in the tight space. It only takes about 10min or less to get the door off. It’ll give you a heck of a lot more room to run your wires.

You will also not have to realign the door. Just bolt it up. Two of the 12mm bolts that hold the door onto the hinge are tapered, so that’ll align it straight for you. Tighten the tapered ones first. I believe the alignment is actually done with the other set of bolts (6 - 12mm’s) that are on the body side of the hinge.

TIP: I used some gun CLP (oil) to lube up the wires so it’ll run through the holes easier. I also used the lube on the snake so it’ll be easier to slip back onto the clip. Heck, I use CLP on a lot of things for the FD (antenna, key hole, all hinges) it’s the bomb diggity lube yo!!! Good enough for my HK good enough for my FD!!!

If you have any other questions let me know. I have some pics of the install.
