So by using the search option for this forum, I found thread after thread on how to fix a door handle and how to fix the lock but I haven’t found anything about the latching mechanism. (The part that latches to the striker) long story short I couldn’t get my door to close enough to where the dome light would go off, the dealer I got it from will replace it but cannot find a replacement part and I was told my a local shop that it was a problem in the mechanism. That being said is there a way to repair this? I’m totally cool with taking it apart and fixing it rather than getting a new one, but I’d like to see what all it involves first. If not does anyone have a left side latch mechanism for sale? Thanks for any help!
Sometimes the cables get boogered up in the door or the car has been hit before and something is binding, pull the door panel to inspect the cables and the assembly. I am parting out a '94 LHD and have a good latch assembly with cables, rods, and the striker I can sell you from the LHD passenger side door. $130 shipped, you need to remove the window glass and window track to replace it.
