Is R1 seat different then regular leather seat?
Are R1 seats different than regular leather seats? If so, can someone post a pic or explain the difference?

R1/R2 seats are not the same as the leather seats in the touring. The are described as a pseudo-suede. Sorry but I don't have any pictures for you. I've seen the seats in person and promise you that they are different. Can someone find a pic of each so that RedAnotherDimension can compare?

There are three different seat materials:
Base - cloth that looks a bit like carbon fiber
Touring, etc - leather
R-model - suede-like cloth
I am biased, but the base model has the best seats. They are cloth and hold you in the seat relatively well, and they don't wear very much -- they still look good even as the car gets old. Plus they look kind of like carbon fiber. Leather cracks and doesn't hold you in the seat, and the R-model seats hold you very well, but tend to turn gray/purple with age and are easy to get stains on.
Lots of people with leather and R-model seats comment positively on my base seats when they see them. It seems like a lot of people haven't seen them before -- most cars sold were R or Touring (etc) models.
