Does anyone have the actual FORMULAS for designing sub boxes?
I tried searching...
I am looking for the actual formulas to determine the best volume for a subwoofer using the Theille-Small parameters (Fs, Qts, Qes, etc etc.) Does anyone have access to these? I don't want a calculator, I want the actual formulas.
Thanks in advance!!!

only got software versions, haven't wanted to figure it out ever since.
"The loudspeaker Cookbook" is going to be your best bet. You should be able to find it at Amazon.com and BN.com

The sub manufacture should provide you with the correct volume. I could be wrong but I don't think there is a formal that will work on every sub. I would think each sub is manufactured differently and will respond to volumes differently. You can only hope that any good sub company does allot of research and testing before recommending sub enclosure sizes.

There are formulas and there are test methods to get these formulas. It involves testing the sub in free air with a microphone. Radio Shack used to have a really good book for $20 that detailed every bit of subs and various box designs. As far as how good a sub sounds, well theory is not all inclusive, so a final box should be designed and tested for actual sound quality.

I actually have the Radio Shack book (on loan from a friend). Its pretty informative, but very general in nature. The sub manufacturer should have provided you with enough information to construct the proper box.
If you want me to, though, I can try and scan it in at work tomorrow. The chapter on box design is only 14 pages. If somebody wants to host, we can put it online.

I have the box specs, I have the calculators, I just want to know what the formula is to see why it works the way it does.... Just call it my incessant need to know.
