Do you know the correct way to fix paint chips

Today, I discovered two rock chips on my hood and three 1/2 inch lashes in the paint on the driver side rocker panel.

Does anyone know the correct way to fix this. I can use my dealer supplied paint bottle. But I have always found that this will look OK from a distance. But when up-close all you see is a blob of paint.

Any suggestions?

Also, if you are still on the original paint... it's extremely doubtful that the dealer paint is going to match.

Thanks for the link. I noticed though that the author never showed a final pic of the repair job. The link that goes to the buffing page does not indicate that it is the same spot.
