DIY Low Profile Spoiler Paint?

I was able to jump on a great deal for a low profile spoiler from a local member while I was building my FD. With the car going to get tuned tomorrow, my build is nearing completion engine was and it's time to work on the exterior.

Its a little rough around the edges so to say, so I'd like to refinish it. I'm thinking of just painting it a flat black to sort of blend in with the lights. My question is, what needs to be done to do this. Am I able just to get some flat black spray and spray it or are there further steps (sanding etc) and what suggested products would you suggest to use.

Thanks!

If there are some nicks and pit holes, get some bondo and fill the imperfections. Sand till smooth and paint it what every color you want. I will not recommend flat black since it will look out of place, either gloss black to blend in with the tail lights or body color. I fallowed this process when I did my grill on my previous car. I used Rustolium paint and it held VERY well.

Very nice job, did you spray a base coat and then cover it with coats of clear?

I would spray a base and then follow with a clear once its cured. You can then smooth sand the clear wax and shine.

I sprayed black sandable primer from duplicolor then I put the Rustolium black paint on it. I put about 5 coats then sanded smooth then clear coat it. I sanded with wet 2000 grit between the 3 coats of clear.
