'Dimmer' Wire on HU

i had my jvc head unit out tonight running some rca cables for my amp and saw an orange with white stripe wire labled 'dimmer' just wondering if anyone knew what that was for.

Some units dim the display when the headlights are on. I think this wire tells the head unit to dim the display. Its not used on rx-7's AFAIK.
