Dead-Head HU with stock Bose AMPS
Dead-Head HU with stock Bose AMPS
Can you easily interface a dead-head HU with the stock Bose amp system? Or are the amps insufficient and need some pre-amplification in order to sound nice at high volume?
Ok. I've been doing some reading, as my initial search was poorly done, and I didn't see what I was looking for when I glanced at the sticky. So I'll provide some more info on my situation.
I have a McIntosh MX406 head unit. It's nice and I would like to put it in the FD because it had a high quality stock look to it. It is a dead-head unit no internal amplification. It has 4V pre-outs. I'm not sure about the impedance.
GOAL: I want to run the RCA's to the door speakers.
I read up on the adapter, but it doesn't seem to solve my issue as it basically sits between the HU's wiring harness and the Bose speaker Amp. However, with this deck you need to use the RCA's to get the signal to the amp/speakers.
Also, I seem to have read that a 4.5V pre-out is needed to provide sufficient sound to the BOSE amps/ speakers.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
