dash mounted speakers

i saw another rx-7 that had the 2, 4inch dash speakers reloacated to the top of the dash instead of the stupid stock location under the dash pointing at your shins. well anyways i'm pretty much set on doing this to my stock 86...has anyone ever done this or seen it done? or have any idea how i would run the speaker wire up to there?

Definitly thought about it. Having midranges in the corners would provide some great stereo imaging.

Still good to have the underdash as it provides good fill and you can tune it to make up for any frequencies squashed by roadnoise.

Were you going to cut the dash or mold something on top?

Yeah, the 3.5" or OEM 5" could do that. I'm assuming they had some type of base so it didn't look crappy.

If you want really good sound i have a friend who builds custom boxes that go where the kick panels are. He builds them so the two make it surround sound and all. He just did couple of cars and they sound GREAT. If you are interested let me know.
