Dash light voltage
Hi all,
Guess this is going to be a tracky one to answer, but it worth a shot...
I've just doen the Hyperite gauge mod, and installed my new LED's.but the 501 type ones aren't lighting - I've checked a few things, and it appears they are only seeing 5v with the dimmer maxed out - I'm not sure that's enough to get the LED replacements i've got lighting, and i think that might be the problem. I've tried the old incandescant bulbs and they still work fine.
Does anyone know if 5v sounds about right? If so, i guess I've just wasted money on the bulbs, and better try to find some more that work on a voltage that low

The LEDs were from a guy on eBay - thery are the surface mounted multi directional ones
I've checked them witha direct 12v source and they all light perfectly, so I'm sure that's not hte issue.
I'm thinking it may well be an issue with the dash dimmer - I'm going to try eliminating that from the circuit at the weekend and seeing where it gets me.

Thought i'd update in case anyone was searching in the future
Pretty sure the dimmer switch is knackered
I ran the R/G wire from the loom for the dimmer straight to ground, and everything suddenly lit up
Replacement switch on the way

'cause I'm pretty sure that the smoke that came from it when i connected it back up after pulling it apart to LED-ify it may show that i broke it
