Computer Speakers and MP3 Player for stereo

I'm gonna start a stereo system project and I'll take some pics of the install when I start this project.

I have an FC that has no stereo or speakers. At first I didn't care, but now its just kinda bland w/o any music and my exhaust muffles out headphones so I need to put together a system.

Car stereo systems are not cheap and usually you get into them $700 plus for a decent sounding system. Deck, speakers, wiring, amp, cap, ect. While I was over at CompUSA I was playing with the computer speaker system they had up and a few of them sounded damn nice! $200 for six speakers and a sub. Since having a system in your car is an open invitation for a jack move around here, its nice not having a stereo, but it sucks. So I came up with this idea.

I'm gonna get the computer stereo system, a invertor, and an MP3 Player, which will run me $350 for a hidden/removable stereo system for my car. My plans are to put the sub in the passenger side storage bin and place the speakers in the factory locations. Run the wiring under the carpet and have the invertor hardwired into the cigarette lighter and keep the remote and mp3 player in the center console. The hardest part is going to be fitting the speakers in the s5 door covers and a speaker on the driverside dash.

I'm gonna start this soon. Just wondering what you guys think and/or if you think there is a better way to go about doing this.

hmmmm...interesting

In my 90 Toyota Camry, I had a nice Alpine deck, stock 3.5" front speakers, 5.25" Jensen rear speakers, and two 25-year old home stereo speaker cabinets with 8" woofers. I shared the wiring between each of the rear speakers and the subs. It actually sounded pretty decent, but it looked so freaking ghetto. Ah, the good old days...

I can't help but think that for $350 you could put together a much better stereo made for a car. That doesn't look getto.

cd/mp3/am/fm audio deck w/ 60Wx4CH $87.95 [ http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...855599527&rd=1 ]

5.25" JVC Dual Cone speakers $10/ea x 4 = $40 [ http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...734723616&rd=1 ]

LIGHTNING AUDIO 10" Subwoofer + BOX + AMP $89 [ http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...735594543&rd=1 ]

Grand Total = $216.95

Found all that in about 4 min, if you really looked took some slightly used stuff for $350, you could have a nice system.

I have had to wake up a three in the morning and chase down some punk around the corner. But unfortunately there where three more waiting there so I backed off and called the cops.
