Cleaning New Paint Question.

I got the FC painted this week and I was so happy having a nice shiny car to drive around in, then today it rained and when the **** dried it left water spots all over the damn car. So after 4 days my questions are...

Am I allowed to wash it?
Am I allowed to rinse it off and chamois it?
What am I not allowed to use besides a wax or polish?

Any help is appreciated as going from washing the car every 3 days or so to not knowing what the hell to do is rather frustrating.

As the others said, talk to the body shop, but you should be perfectly fine gently washing it with an automotive car wash soap. You shouldn't polish or wax it.

BTW, people still use chamois? Why? Buy a California Water Blade, it saves a lot of time, won't damage the paint, and is a hell of a lot less of PITA than a chamois.

you can wash it, use a good quality car wash soap, no wash and wax stuff, just car wash.
Get yourself a nice soft wash mitt, wash from the top down, rinse often, dont drag the dirty mitt across the paint, wash the wheels last with a different mitt. Definitly dont lay the mitt on the floor.

you can wash all you want, its good to keep the paint clean.

Please note that everyone has mentioned washing the car by hand, and NOT with a powerwasher.

What kind of bullshit is this? It doesn't make any difference.

you figure a powerwasher will show if they sanded everything right, paint flying off the car is a dead give-a-away, lol

Nothing wrong with a light powerwasher for rinsing. Dont go putting the nozzle 2" from the paint at 2500psi though.

I would agree with the others about asking your paint shop.
The general rule is 2 months of hand washing. Pressure washing is for off roaders and lazy people.

I once used a industrial pressure washer..you know the kind to clean sidewalks and peeled the paint off the fender on my 64 VW. It took off the orgianl paint.

Did they color sand the car already?
You could wash the car and you shouldn't have a problem with waxing it either.

Yea, dont use a pressure washer. I stripped the paint on my old 240 with mine (on purpose). I have had my car repainted twice. Both times I just kept the car very clean all the time by washing it with meguiars soft gel and a sponge, nothing too abrasive. Also for drying I never wanted to take the chance of scratching it so I just use the california water blade for most of the water, then a nice bath towell for hard to get places. They say you shouldnt wax it for 3 months, but my body shop told me not to do it for as long as possible. Something about the pores of the paint and the clearcoat not being able to breathe.
