Cleaning the 13b engine bay

Hope this is in the correct forum as i'm fairly new to rx7club.com

I have an 86 GXL and i want to clean up the engine bay. Some people said to just buy engine shampoo and scrub away but a few people told me to pressure wash it. Comes out looking real good, real quick. Would anyone recommend this? If so, what things should i wrap up? (i.e. - battery, alternator..)

intake,m alternator, and stay away from electrical connections, I pressure washe dmine and it didnt do much, then I did it all by hand for two days about 4-5 hours each day, it looked brand new, so, if u want it to look really really good, do it by hand, get a lot of rags and a lot of grease removed, then wax it all, its worth the time

I use Gunk Engine Brite to clean the engine bays in both my FD and Turbo II. Just like it says on the can, spray it on, let it sit for a few minutes, agitate heavily soiled areas, then rinse it off (I use a regular garden hose, BTW). Easy as pie, and w/ excellent results.

If you have any silicone lines in your car stay away from gunk. It has a petrolium base wich will eat away at silicone over time. I believe the Castol cleaner /degreaser is not petrolium based so its a good degresser.

The only thing you have to cover/plug is the filter/inlet to the turbo. That's all. The only issue I've ever had, pressure washing or otherwise was an EGT that was flipping out for a few minutes until the connection dried up enough. All other connections, alternator, etc can take it. Just make sure you thoroughly hose it down. You don't want to burn off any degreaser.
