Clarion Amps any good?
Has anybody used a Clarion amp? are they any good? I was recommended by a friend of mine to power my infinity kappa's with a clarion apx401.2 or 401.4. He knows quite a bit about car audio, however, a bunch of my other friends say Clarion has crappy amps....anybody have any opinions?

well as with many other audio companies they have different quality lines. The cheapest of course not being the best but their more expensive lines are very good. best thing I can do is suggest that you go listen yourself.

Clarion makes ok stuff from what I hear. Never really heard anything powerd by ther amps. If your willing to spend some more and want a great amp I say go with a Phenix gold or JL one.

Echoing what the others are saying, Clarion amps are OK. They're not top shelf like Zapco or McIntosh or Arc Audio, yet they're not cheapass/low quality like Pyramid or Kenford or those other swap meet brands. They'll do the job assuming you're giving your speakers enough power and you're not *too* picky.
BTW, if you're on a budget, look at Planet Audio, U.S. Acoustics, and Crossfire amplifiers. Stable, clean, reliable power - good bang for the buck.
