PA Carpet fix, eliminating the bose carpet

Hey all

I currently have a 94 touring and wanted to eliminate the bose system. But as most of you know if you do that you're left with exposed metal and holes in your hatch cover. I called Ray Crowe and priced out a new one (over $300 after shipping), and waiting for a decent one on the forums was taking longer than expected. SO, I decided to just do it myself. I picked up some automotive carpet at a local carpet store, took some measurements, made a cardboard cutout, and traced/cut the new carpet.
I also took the tops off the bose system and zip tied them to the hatch cover so it still looks stock from the outside. (Before the haters jump in, I know it's not anywhere close OEM quality...BUT, my total has less the $19 after buying carpet and black zip ties...and that's not bad!) (I should have vacuumed it before pics I know)

Here are the pics of how it looks (In the second pic you can see I cut about 1/2inch too much, other than that it came out well)

[QUOTE="kev8595gst;11587076"]If anyone is going to try the speaker top attachment like I did, I pulled the cloth tabs loose from the plastic piece that fits into the deck, punched a little hole through it and attached the ties to that at each corner. Be careful not to completely tear it off, I did that to one tab on accident.
