Calling all flat black fd's

I think it only looks ok if done right. I have seen way to many botch jobs that looked disgusting. Someone on here has a flat black gtr that looked pretty mean.

NoPis10 06-08-09 06:38 PM

I think the Flat black GTR that was posted here was actually a full vinyl rap and not painted....

Doesn't look right in my opinion. The doors and fenders don't match.

rescueranger 06-09-09 03:19 AM

don't do flat black its nasty, go with the satin black

wptrx7 06-09-09 10:58 AM

What's the difference with Satin and flat black?

zanthrax 06-09-09 11:22 AM

Satin is in between flat and gloss paint.

bad:

good:

Nice wheels are also very important, a nice satin paintjob with stock wheels doesn't look that cool at all, it looks more like the car just has primer on it.
The trick to a good flatblack look is to get the car painted black with regular automotive paint and then give that a satin clearcoat instead of the regular gloss/glass paint.

zensokuracer001 06-09-09 05:23 PM

man satin is the way i want to go i want to to sani front bumper, feed side skirts and volk ce28n glossy black with the red lip.

no offense u dont own a 91 honda civic, u own a seven, big difference. to me flat back is lazy cause it just hides all of imperfections, thats my 2 cents.

One of the members from Kuwait has a flat black FD. It was even for sale recently:

Also posted some bad quality pictures in the 3rd Gen pictures thread, scroll down:

I say go for it, but it will look better in a satin finish on a kitted/widebodied car with some black rims.

zensokuracer001 06-23-09 09:12 AM

i know i dont have a 91 civic im just tired of mb its a hard color to work with. satin is porb the way i want to go.

thanks for all the pics.

KaiFD3S 06-23-09 06:58 PM

The flat black picture up there is not paint, that is just primer....

str8ryd 06-27-09 10:24 AM

Damn, didn't realize these Matte or Flat paint jobs could go soooo wrong LoL. Some of the one's pictures (Mercedes aside) look like crap. Does anyone know how well this finish holds up to road conditions? I wouldn't think very well, but I'd like to confirm.
