I am still trying to figure out if I want to get a body kit or not and I ran accross this on C-WEST's USA site. Since I think that any mod that does not increase performance is a ricer mod it has been very difficult for me to decide if I was going to get a body kit or not. I had heard that the GTC kit was wind tunnel tested, however, I never saw the results of said testing. So I was never sure of getting one or not. I have never seen any testing on the 99 spec front end either. It seems that C-WEST is now testing their kits and publishing the results. Here is the link:

This is pretty cool if you ask me. At least now there is proof that the C-WEST kit actually helps performance. I have always been wary of body kits since I have always thought that most of them hurt performance. It is good that at least one manuf. has stepped up to the plate and started wind tunnel testing their goods.

That's a cool link, however the 2 second decrease in lap times is probably mostly due to the large GT wing which helps cornering stability rather than the rest of the kit.
However some bodykits do increase performance. For example, a bumper with a large opening in the front end is more likely to help cooling to the radiator and intercooler than the puny stock bumper and vented hoods help as well. Also wider fenders allow someone to fit larger and wider wheels. I can't speak the same for sideskirts and rear bumpers though.
