brakelight switches melting!!!

brakelight switches melting!!!

hello, i have a 86 gxl and are having probs with my brake light switches melting, and now the plug that goes into the headlight switch has just melted so i need help to find out why this is. please help. i have went thru like 10 brakelight switches now.

well i had the same problem, except it wouldt melt, just get hot. I popped open the cover on the new switch i got, loosened the screw on the circuit board, blew at it with both my lungs and some compressed air, and it just magically fixed it self. I was intending to completely take off the screws on the circuit board, but I didnt, and it work just fine how it is now. (screws a little loose) maybe the screw were ****** something up? i dunno, alls i know is it works.

i am having a hard time trying to picture what screw your talkin about. please be more elaberate thanx in advance. anyone else have any idea?

well get the switch, and face it upwards with the **** pointing up. you will see a plastic cover with holes for ventilation, pop it off with a screw driver, now you can see the circuit board. and there will be the 3 screws.
