Bose issues inside...

Yes, another Bose issue thread...sorry in advance..I do motors/suspension...not as much with electronics, but I am learning! I have a 93 touring with Bose, and the sound is just inconsistant and terrible. When a music is playing, I can turn the balance **** all the way to the passenger side, and barely hear the sound...I have to turn is SLIGHTLY to include just a LITTLE of the drivers side (I only do a little because it is VERY loud when I do it too much out of the drivers side). I don't seem to hear much from the rear speakers either. THIS scenario is 9/10 times and when I am driving...sometimes if I go out and just turn the car to the ON position and listen, it sounds really good...which tells me the speakers aren't blown...

Sometimes, when I am driving, I will have the balance to where I can hear music on the drivers side (again, barely turned to the drivers side because the passengers side is very quiet even turned all the way) and all the sudden, the passenger side will kick on...

I have removed door panels and I am sure that I have connections all good to the speakers...

Another thing is that if I have it barely turned to the back when driving, the left side will crackle...

To recap:

1. Passenger side speaker VERY quiet even when turned all the way up...occurs 9/10 times and mostly when driving, however, every so often, will just come alive when driving

2. Rear drivers side speaker crackles with too much volume when driving.

3. Once in a while, if I just turn the car to the ON position and listen, it sounds really really good...

Any ideas?

Trev,

Given that it's an intermittent problem I would say that indeed you have a loose connection "somewhere". What I would do first is verify that all of the grounds are connected properly. Next I would check solder connections. If found nothing I would power up and carefully "jiggle" components in order to find the culprit. It would not surprise me if you find a cracked solder joint somewhere.

Hope that this helps.
