Body Paint job

So, what is a good gun to use to paint a vehicle?

I have seen top-feed guns that connect to a compressor.

I am looking to repaint a couple cars and need a good gun for someone who is new to painting.

I have a 25 gallon tank. 100 psi is the max it will do.

I don't plan on doing any cool graphics or anything. Just plain color, and some clear coat.

Also, where is a good area to buy stock car paint colors, and clear coat?

Thanks again guys.

any gravity feed gun will do. just be sure it is setup right. and your compressor should be fine. i paint cars all the time with a one gallon compressor. yeah i have to stop and wait every panel for the damn thing to refill but it works. id get a half way decent gun at your local paint shop.

What do you suggest for stripping paint? Something that uses the air compressor?

Air grinder or something?

Thanks.

you will come out better if you just take it to a shop and have it painted. that is to small of a compressor to to those jobs. average gravity feed cost from 100 and goes in the hood of 500. a decent paint is average 1-400 per gallon and a decent clear kit will start at 100 and go up. it is almost economical to just have it painted.

I would never suggest using a 25 gallon compressor to do a car

Ok. Thanks guys.

Guess I will just have to wait a get a bigger tank. Main reason I am asking this stuff is because I plan on painting my car, and about 5-6 others that are will to pay me to paint them. I am working on slowly starting a small shop, and being able to paint would be nice too.

I do appreciate the information.

i wouldnt suggest using that compressor either. i would suggest buying a sata jet 90 for a gun if you can find one, they are very easy to spray with. and dont grind your paint off you dont need to strip it unless the paint is very old or in very bad condition, just get a DA sander and sand the car with some 320 grit.

Go buy a devilbiss finish master gun with a 1.4 head. dont strip the car to metal unless its needed. your tank is fine. good luck .
