Body Leading

Has anyone ever done it or had it done?? I'm thinking about doing it on my quarter thats messed up. i've heard ups and downs about leading and bondo. need some help here.

i have used lead to make some body repairs.What would you like to know?

just wondering experiences w/ doing repairs that way. i've heard that it won't crack or anything like bondo but i've heard that it will shrink over time.

i have never had any problem with it shrinking and i have never heard of it shrinking, but that dosent mean it cant happen, anything is possiable.(Cheap materals could be a cause of shrinking)but you are right about it wont crack and you can even push behind the material if it is sanded too low and thats a big +. One key element is if you do not use the right flux it will flake off when working it down smooth. If it were my car I would prefer using lead over bondo but thats just my .02 .

Who would be leading it you are someone else? Just wondering because i know a few body repair people and they dont know how too use lead(its kind of a lost art around here)If you have any ?s about what materials to use i can give you some material #s but if someone else is doing it i would say do that over bondo, its better to fill metal with metallic substance than metal with body filler

^He's right most body repair people dont know how to use it including myself.Like he said it's like a lost art.
