Best scuff plates?

Who makes nice scuff plates for an FD? Mine are worn out. I don't like the silver metal ones, I would perfer black. Can anyone point me to a vendor that sells nice ones that are not too expensive ( > $200.0). Thanks.

You can always get the aluminum ones and paint them black (which is what I did). Granted, they are scuff plates so they are supposed to get messed up be the aluminum ones look nasty after some real use. I did a little sanding and some painting and they look better than they did before, IMO.

You have a pic of them? I'm curious about how they look.

How does the paint hold up? Have you had them in for a while?

Here are Zerobanger's comments on how he painted & maintained his black door sills. His links are down right now, though

Sorry guys, I don't have any decent pictures of them. They aren't bad. The clear coat I used has held for 3 years so far and they still look the exact same as the day the paint/clear coat dried.

I used Krylon Acryllic Clear Coat (same thing I ended up using on my interior panels).

Thanks for all the replies. The scuff plates in this link look like they fit poorly... do they all (the aluminum mazda ones, and other carbon fiber ones) fit like that? It looks like there is a gap underneath the plate.

the scuff plates on our site were made directly from a mold of the new mazda aluminum scuff plates, so they are identical to those, the fit is fine, you see a little bit of a gap in that picture because i think they were just set on Attila's car for that shot. If you really want only black plates we might be able to do a Fiberglass one off set in black gel-coat and make it bit cheaper. Just e-mail attila if you're interested:
