Best Audio For This Much Money....

This is what I need, two 4" speakers for the front of my 89' TII, an amp, and sub/s. Sub enclosure is taken care of for whatever I decide to get. Heres the deal, my b-day is coming up, and heres about how much I can get out of each person. I have some money to spend too, so I can buy extra stuff if necessary, but i'm trying to get most of this stuff for free...oh, and I have a pioneer cd player which is 4x50w i believe, and I have two pioneer speakers in the rear already....

Mom - $100 or less, $110 max if i'm lucky
Dad - $120 or less, $130 max if i'm lucky
Dad's g/f - $50 or less, $60 if i'm lucky
Grandparents - $50 is their present, so this is money I can spend
Aunt - $20 is her standard present, so thats more money I can spend

Oh, also I plan on having the amp only be for the sub, unless you can make a good setup otherwise, please feel free to make suggestions.

My idea was pretty much to get a sub from my mom or dad, and an amp from the other one who didn't get me the sub, then the two front speakers would be with the money i got from grandparents/aunt, and theres a few other people i might get money from, then buy an enclosure/wiring and all that with my own money cause that stuff is relatively cheap. Please help me out here, my birthday is September 11th, and I need to know before then, so I can have a kickass setup right when I get my liscence so I can have something to show off (as if the rx7 isn't enough to show off, heh). Thanks for the help.

I have alot of experience with car stereo. IMO if you want really good fairly cheap items, buy Pioneer. All their products are excellent. Sony has the highest return rate out of any other brand b/c thier merchandise is crap, ie...maxproduced.

So buy Pioneer everthing...subs, amps and coaxils.

I'll have to second that comment on Sony's quality -- it's horrible. All of my friends used to buy Sony car audio parts from various sales, and they all ended up returning all their parts (amps/subs). I've never heard of them having problem with decks, though.

I'm going to be the last one to diss people over being smart. I am a true believe of buying what works. Not b/c it has a certain name imprinted on it. Sounds like a good deal you got. Your smarter than half of the people on this forum

Ocelot- If you want me to pick you out some stuff, just tell me exactly what you want and I'll do some quick research. I work at Circuit City From what I can tell, you want 2 subs, an amp, and 2 front speakers???

Well, the two front aren't as important as subs/amps and such, those can come sometime later. I'm more interested in what I can get along the lines of a sub/amp. Would it be crappy just to get one sub, or does two make a big difference? Also, I have an FC with bins in the back. I was wondering if I took the the bins and the brackets for them out completely, then put some sort of setup back there where the subs were pointing towards the back of the seats if that would sound good from there? I've heard people say mounting them in the bins sucks, but I wasn't sure if that was if they were facing up and like actually in the bins or not. What other options do I have? I'm pretty much just looking to get a really nice low bass out of this that when I want to, I can shake the car and really show it off.

by used (ebay) get a good amp, the rest is secondary. Head units don't make much of a difference imo.

Shop on ebay, you can get brand new high quality speakers for cheap. I haven't heard there subs, but my friend bought some Lanzar 6x9's and they were freaking awsome. I do have 2 Lanzar 12's but I haven't hooked them up to anything yet. Got them both for like $60 shipped.

Also got 2 Audiobahn 12's for $120. These subs go for more than double that in Circuit City. They're rated for 400 rms and I'm only pushing 150 to each and they a LOUD. The amp is also Audiobahn, got it for 320 shipped and CC charges over $700. It can push 1200x1 @1ohm, but I've got the subs wired to rum at 4ohms, so I don't go deaf.

Also check Ubid. com, they don't have too much anymore, but sometimes you can catch a really good deal there.

False, the system is only as good as is weakest component. The head unit sends the signal to the amp. Crappy signal= crappy sound
clean signal= clean sound

Ive work at a custom stereo shop and I did some low buget jobs. Your best bet is to get a 4 channel amp. Run you 2 front speakers with 2 channels, and bridge the other 2 to a single 12inch sub.

Incloser wise If you set on removing the back pods, a down firing box would do best. remeber a single sub with the right size box will sound better than 2 with an undersized box. (BUILD THE BOX TO THE SPEAKERS SPECS)

But the best results will come out of a box that is in the back of the car and face straight at the back glass.

If your set on just bass spent alittle more money and get a farly good amp and sub. Remeber to match power ratings. RMS power is what your looking for. For exaple your radio. You said it was 50wattsX4. RMS its only like 7wattsX4. I sell 50wattsX4 amp that will run a full system and it the size of a stock ecu. Now how is that and a cd player an am/fm tuner going to fit in a radio.(ITS NOT) What they do is zap it with a lighning bolt(NOT REALY BUT THE PUMP WELL OVER 12volt THROUGH IT) and it will put out 50X4 for about half a sec. then in frys. This is the same with lots of amps. Look for the RMS rating this will tell you the true watts.

If you need any help or spec just let me know.

PS Sony is crap. unless your getting a TV for you house, even then there not the in the top 5
