Beefing up door panels in FD

Is there any way to make the part of the door panels that you pull on any beefier, esp the handle on the pass. side? I hate the way they flex before the actual door starts to move. It feels like they are about to break on both sides.

Thanks,
ray

Sure there is.

Attila did this and when I wentto close his door it was night and day difference, so I stole his design and did the same thing. Take a 1" wide piece of sheet metal that they sell at hope depot that is used to nail two structural boards together (like 10 cents). remove the door panel, and use the hold down screws for the door handle latch to mount one end of the strip, then bend/mold the metal around the door handle latch cup (after setting it like it sits when installed. then attach the other end to another hold down screw. Takes a lot of work, and a dremel to trim the strip dwon in some areas, but definately worth the effort. In retrospect plumber's tape (really thin easy to bend metal w/ holes in it) would prolly work just as well, but be a ton easier to work with. Good luck if you go fo it. While you're in there you may want to spray some sound deadener on the inside of the out metal door skin to reduce the "tin can" sound the doors make when closed.
