Question Bad engine sound on speakers

Hey guys,

I just installed 2 MSD igniters on my RX7..... I’m now having trouble listening to music because of engine sound on the speakers.

Is there something I can do to correct this problem?

Thanks,

Vic

Do you mean an ascending whine as the revs go up? If so, check or relocate your ground.

yeah i am getting that now too. i think its because when i relocated my battery to the passenger side rear compartment, i ran the 0-gauge wire up the center console.

would swapping out all my grounds be a fix maybe? the battery is grounded pretty well to the bolt hole where the rear seatbelts would bolt up.

do you guys think i can update all my grounds to fix this, or would i have to move the power cable to the side of the car insdead of the up the center console?

That problem is almost always caused by a bad ground. Relocate your ground and see if the problem goes away (it most likely will)!

To my understanding the battery is where the whole "grounding" process begins, between the battery and the engine block.

Fujikuro: Your problem to me would be that you are instead of starting the ground on the engine block, like it used to be. Its being grounded somewhere near/around the seatbelt bolts...

Since you ran the + wire all the way back to the hood, I would run a - wire all the way to where the old one is.. and hook it to where it hooks on the engine block, or just hook it to the old terminal...

A good way to test this is to run it from your compartment, out your passanger/driver side window (whichever side its on.) then hook it to where I sugested, and then start the car and check your whine. I Bet it will be gone.

Also doublecheck the ground on your stereo, that could easily be the problem as well.. If you have not touched the stereo.. its probbably your ground being grounded in the car instead of at the block (for the battery)

Good Luck!
