Anyone used the SEM Interior Paint?
Looking at re-doing my door plastics in either a dark silver/charcoal or a very dark red (would appear black when dark). I was wondering how SEM held up as apposed to a krylon acrylic. Mainly because SEM is so expensive, is it worth spending the extra money?
I use SEM exclusively. I haven't tried any color other than Landau Black, which is the closest match with regards to sheen and color match on my 90 GXL and Vert restoration. I use Sem Soap first followed by Sem Vinyl Prep and then the color coat. On hard plastics I use Sem XXX Adhesion Promoter after cleaning and then the color coat. It's a durable finish, but as with any coating, don't scrimp on the prep. It's essential.
As for price, the color coat and prep is around $13 per can and is well worth it. Most other brands are either too flat, too glossy or have poor adhesion/flaking. I buy mine at a local paint & body supply company.

We use it in the upholstery shop.
as Scrip7 said, it's all in the prep. spend your time prepping the parts and you'll be happy with the results.
Also we've been using bulldog for the adhesion promoter/flex agent, the end result seems to work better and hold up better than with using SEM's adhesion promotor.
And we ususally degrease any panels 2x before the SEM soap. After these plastics have been sprayed with Armour-all for years, it takes some time to get the greeeez off. We give it the double degrease, then after the SEM soap, don't touch the panel with your barehands. yes a single print of finger oils can make a panel look bad- try handling the panels by the edges or rear clips if you have to handle them at all...
SEM rocks.
