Does anyone have the Knight Sport headlight conversion? The kit that only allows the lights to pop up halfway and has 2 round lamps. Who sells these? Is it a good kit??

If you want the HID version, break out the piggy bank.

It uses fog lamp assemblies for both hi and low beams, so do not expect an optimal (and street legal) beam pattern. Then again, almost anything is better then the stock pattern.
It does sit at a lower angle then stock.

] Are there any other kits which allow for popups and HIDs????

I'm not sure about the installation, however those are exactly the way the lights work. Those aren't lowered any more from the stock look of the Knight Sports kit. If you get the kit, your lights will look exactly like that pic. The lights are around $860:

Do you happen to know how the lighting quality is with the standard kit? What bulbs are used?
Anybody ever get anywhere with these? I'm looking to get some of these.
Also, seems to me someone recently said they were going to make a knock-off of these, anyone hear of those?

Just a thought before you buy...
I was asking about the Knightsports before, and I *think* it was DCrosby who mentioned how he heard the illumination on them was horrible...and the HID option didn't work due to somethin w/ how they projected, etc...
So I did a lil research, asked around (including those who sell 'em) and apparently the illumination is actually just as bad (some claim worse) than the stock FD headlights...
There are knock-offs comin out soon, w/ a true HID option...I read about it a short while ago, so I'm sure we'll hear about it very soon. That's what I'm waiting on =)

Here is a PM I got from Mr. Stock a while ago....

John and I were goofing around last weekend and managed to make
a half height headlight setup.
I am using a Optilux DE Xenon for driving lights and a Hella DE Xenon
for high beam. The Optilux is basically a projector (made by Hella)
with a cut off and so it functions well as a driving lights. They are
fog lights, but their beam pattern is wide but also projects forward
like a driving light. After a call to Optilux's division of Hella, the
tech support told me that they are the closest thing to driving light
pattern. The packaging is weather proof, which is an added bonus. I can
post the part number if others are interested.
We installed the whole thing in the stock fiberglass lamp cradle and
it all fits with some Dremel work on the cradle to allow more room for
angling the lights. The setup looks very nice where the max. opening is
only 11cms !
The motor was easy to modify once we understood how it works. Actually,
within an hour or goofing around we figured out how to modify the motor
so it rises as high as we want. There is no mechanical modification of
the arm or levers required, just an addition of some insulating
material to the motors internals stops the current from conducting over
the entire contact surface.
I would like to post photos to show people what it all looks like
installed. I think the rx7 forum might be the best place to post them.
If I can't figure out how to do that I will ask for directions.
Here are the lights I used:

Uhh...from what I saw in the light beam pics, that's a HUGE understatement. Those lights are sooo much better than any stock driving lights I've ever seen. They're practically spotlights! haha. Very very nice

I never got whats so bad about stock. We barely even have street lamps here.
Either way the Knightsports are nice. I have seen maybe 2 FDs in all of the US with kit. I dont think thats enough to go on. As for the HID is just came out about 8 months ago, and they threw the pattern pics of VERY VERY NICE! WAY BETTER THEN ANY KIT I HAVE SEEN YET, yes that includes the beam that comes off the H11 (now HID) re-amemiya kit.

I have the KnightSports kit with HID on my car. I don't know where the previous owner got them but he said that were around $2k. They illuminate quite well although I don't know how stock was because I never drove the car with the stock lights. They look badass compared to factory though.

Pics please???
Hmmm... Well I was seriously considering this light conversion. I wanted to do a similar headlight mod to my 1993 Toyota Celica GTS. But the more I look at the cost and the negative points to the kit, I'm wondering if I shouldn't just save $900 and just go with stock (My car has no headlights from the previous owner).
