They are not new, they have been around for many years now. They are French and the makers of JM Labs home speakers which reatail for up to $70,000 a pair.
Just for kicks, the Grand Utopias

So as you could imagine, they know what they are doing. I've been using their speakers for a few years now. I have yet to hear a better sounding speaker. A few years back when I was shopping for them I auditioned Dynaudio, Morel, MB Quart, Seas and others. I liked the Focals the best. If you don't mind the price tag, go for them, you won't be disapointed.

Dynaudio and Focal are two completely different companies.

Focal make some really nice speakers, but I prefer Dynaudio or MB Quart myself.

The focal utopia line is the best they make, they are great speakers but not in comparison to dynaudio or to morels. Or you could use Rainbow reference series that cost around $10000 a pair.

The acoustics in an FC are marginal IMO. And it isn't that great in FDs either, or most sports cars for that matter. You need a big fat *** car w/ heavy doors and a lot of insulation to seal off outside noise as well as general noise from the car to *really* hear your speakers.

Anyway, if you can, try and and audition those Focals or any other speakers you're considering. You might end up hating the speakers or be unimpressed. Buying by reputation isn't always a good idea since sound is subjective and everybody has their own preferences. Some people like their speakers "sharp", others "warm". Depends too on what kind of music you listen to.
