anti theft epiphany

So i have a crazy idea here. yes its very crazy and might be time consuming but i think it would be a 99% sure fire way of a car not being stolen minus trailer. Im wondering what you guys think

Well there is a wonderful picture i did with autocad. j/k it gets the idea out though.

I wrote this to my dad, so it has simple lingo there. anyways i copied and pasted what i wrote to him but it gets my message across, i hope

the box on the bottom is the cars ECU. they have plugs on them from the factory and removing the ECU from the car will keep it from getting started but not stolen if a thief brought an ECU with him. Now to go one step over a thiefs head the ECU will be removed when parked along with the bottom portion of the factory wiring harness. I will be splicing in another harness that will jump the factory engine harness with the factory ECU that can be removed with the ECU when leaving the car. When a thief looks at the plugs it will be plugs he has never seen in his life and short of repinning the whole harness or towing the car he wouldnt be able to steal it.

How mant thieves carry around an extra ECU with them?
Does anyone here actually remove their ECU from the car when it's parked as an anti-theft measure? It sounds like a huge PITA.

I need to rig-up a hidden Feul Pump relay cut switch. My beater Integra was stolen recently an that has made me more paranoid about my 7.

you must have been robbed repeatedly in your younger years....lol...

joking aside....your idea would require connectors with

1. at least the same amount of pins.....
2. proper orientation to be conducive to the huge splice battle you are proposing....
3. easy disconnect-ability
4. magic beans.......

he has the right idea if you think about it....i've thought about this very same thing as an anti-theft measure in the past....along with other ideas also..

its funny, you go on most any forum and you will see a bunch of threads like.."help, my car was stolen" or "keep an eye out for my car, it got jacked today right outside my house"

then you read the threads, and what anti-theft devices do these people usually have? not a ******* thing....it amazes me how people can't take time to protect their investiment with various theft prevention...or maybe they just don't give a ****, and would rather just pay for theft insurance coverage...

Hey don't laugh about someone caring a ecu with them, 98 and up integra type-r's have a programed key and the car will only start with a key with the correct programing. Unless you remove the ecu and install a ecu out of ls or gsr integra and you are up and running in no time.

Thanks for the kind words. I wasnt really referring to the rx7 ecu's but the same idea can be related to this. I put a lot of my in my 7, and almost the same in my civic. Whats easier to steal, and whats more worth while...The civic of course. Its hard to unload rx7 parts, civics well we all know. as for the insurance coverage...How many insurance companies will just total the car and give you a check for what the car is worth. I know there might be one or two that will give you everything with receipts, but the average ins comp will not even with a ryder. This was just an idea i would share with the masses. It does help me sleep better knowing that my money pit is safe. Again, i dont have a garage to put my car at rest everynight. I do go to college and one day will be saving to afford the house that many of you are living in. I do need my bone stock civic to get to and from school to get the ...you get the picture. I am modifying my civic(not ricer style) and know that it could be a prime suspect at anytime. K series swaps are pricey and im not about to lose it all in "60" seconds.

As for the connector, yes. Ive already found about 5 that will work. It has atleast the many plugs that i need.

The ITR immobilizer can be removed with such programs as hondata, crome, uberdata. An obd1 adapter harness and any obd1 ecu will allow you to limp that beast to someones garage. My trick enables the easiest ECU's to be adapter. thanks again guys

If someone really wants your car, and I mean the WHOLE car. They will come prepared with a tow truck. All this idea will do is stop some dork from taking your car out for a joy ride.

do you really think every car that gets stolen is taken with a tow-truck? no way...its experienced car thiefs stealing them for chop shops and export...
sorry, but if i see a tow-truck near my car i will just pick up my 45 and see what the **** is going on...
a tow truck taking your car for no reason is kinda obvious..

most cars that are stolen aren't just joyrided and ditched, they are stolen for parts so money can be made...

I'd like to see someone try to get my car, i'd love to walk out and see someone in my car trying to hotwire it, because about 5 seconds later they would have been shot several times...and if i lived in CA i would be even more paranoid about car theft
