antenna malfunction or bad intallation?

i get the worst reception possible, there is a new cd player in it when i bought it and i think they didn't connect it to the antenna because they also didnt wire the speakers correctly, all 4 are hooked up to the fronts when i fade the sound to the rear all the audio gets turned down. i can not tell if the antenna and motor are broken or if the cd payer wasn't hooked right

Are you using the original power antenna?

The wiring is backwards on the antenna (on the 91 model at least, don't know about your 87)

If it's still hooked up to the radio though, the antenna would still work, but it would come up when you turn the radio off. If I were to guess, either they just screwed up the wiring entirely, or they didn't hook up the power antenna lead because they couldn't figure out how to make it work properly.

Either way, they need to fix that.

Id say your antenna is broken. I wasnt getting **** for reception one day and then found out my dad ran my car through and automatic wash and one of the big spinning sponges broke my antenna in half.

If anyone has been messing with anything in the hatch, you may check just to make sure that the power antenna's antenna cable is plugged up. A couple of times I was troubleshooting after messing with my stereo only to find out I accidentally unpugged it, since it has very little slack. Oops.

By the way, Sideways, I just checked out the pics of your car in your sig link... wow, just wow. Very rare do you see a FC as clean and nice inside and out as yours. Makes me want to spend a weekend cleaning my engine...
