Amp is not enough

I recently had to replace my 2x80 rockford fosgate ehich was used only to feed the 8" woofer in the box(bridged). I had to get a cheapy Pyramid claiming 2x120. I connected the woofer and it is hardly pushing it. Do you have any suggestions? I was thinking about connecting the woofer to only one channell or bridging the amp. It does not say that amp is bridgable though.

THanks

In the future pay close attention to the details of what you buy, those lower quality amps sound great before you buy them, hell 800 watts for 150$!! But they only push that normally at a 2 ohm load (which overheats them) and keep in mind that spec of 2x120 is PEAK power, normally it is probably 2x60; So drop it into mono, pray to god you have good airflow to it, and start saving your money for a ppi (they put out more power than what is on the box, GREAT for stereo competitions.

Thanks. I know this was a learning lesson for me. Can you tell me how exactly I should go to mono? I have four speakers (2 polk tweeters and 2 polk 5 1/4 fed by the stereo and the box by the amp. Do I simply connect +'s and -'s of each channel. Also how about one of those 12v small fan on top of the crap amp to cool it?
Thanks again

Hmmm if I grasp you setup correctly, the my little diagram should help. This is for mono on a 2 channel amp

-L+ -R+

-subW+

If the diagram didn't come out right, its like this; left channel negative to sub neg--right channel positive to sub pos. That should put your amp in mono, some amps are wired for it, be sure to check your documentation for a heat shutoff internal of the amp; if it gets to hot it cuts off so it doesn't catch on fire. Depending on where you mounted your amp will determine airflow to it, so if you mount it under a seat, (behind is somewhat OK) but under itll overheat in the summer about every 5 minutes and in the winter it would be OK. Hope this helps, just be sure all of you equip is out of plain view or just looks like boxes (non stereo) I had 1g of **** stolen from my car; because I left my window cracked 1/4" overnight. I love city livin.

"I was thinking about connecting the woofer to only one channell or bridging the amp."

if you are thinking about connected it these 2 ways how is it connected now? those are the only 2 ways you can connect it...

what is the gain set at? is it all the way up and still not moving the sub?
