AMP level for FD alternator?

What AMP level should a stock touring alternator put out? I just had mine tested and it's between .9 and 1 (or maybe that was 10 and 9). I'm replacing my Miata battery with an Optima yellow top. I want to make sure my charging system is functioning properly because the miata battery only lasted 6 months.

Thanks guys

Chris C.
