Alpine Vs Rockford Fosgate

Hi

I have a dilema I have been listening bad and good reviews about Alpine and Rockford Fosgate amps so I'm all confuse, wich amp should I go for?

What Subwoofer should I go for, Infinity, Alpine or Audiobahn?

thanks

As far as subwoofer is concerned, for the money, you cant beat Alpines type R's (12's). They are a mix between sq and spl and have a REALLY rich sound but can also slam very hard. (you can get a pair, new for around 230 bucks!)

Amps are a different story. Tell me what your setup is going to be and ill be able to give you my suggestion.

I currently have:
Kenwood 915x headunit
kenwood 906xrp 6.5 inch components
Kenwood 695 excelon 6x9's
Kenwood 401m excelon mono sub amp
Kenwood 501F excelon 4 channel amp
2 Image Dynamics 12's (Thier high end forgot the number)

The kenwood excelon amps are some of the best you can buy. But they are fairly expensive.

Thanks bamastdnt

This is what I have on my car as now:

Headunit Alpine CDA-9815 (2003 Model)

Front Speakers

Infinity 652I
6-1/2" two way

Power handling: 60w RMS, 180 W peak
Sensitivity: 92 db
Frequency response: 54hz - 20khz
impedance: 4 omhs

Rear speakers:

Infinity Kappa 62.5I two way
6-1/2" two way

Power handling: 75w RMS, 225w peak
Sensitivity: 90 db
Frequency response: 45hz - 21khz
impedance: 4 omhs

What amp do you think I need to power this speakers? I'm looking for good quality sound, I'm not that concern about loud sound?

1 more question...well 2 acutally.

Are you going to want to continue to run your mids off of stereo power? or amplified?

So what im asking is do you need an amp for your
mids/highs
and a sub amp?

If so how much would you like to spend on each?

I can send you links for some good stuff as soon as you let me know a price range youre looking at.

Thanks bamastdnt

For now I think I will just buy a amp to power my four speakers and then I will go for a mono amp and a Sub.

How much I'm willing to expend, up to 400 for a amp

As far as the amps are concerned I would advise against Fosgate. I went through four Fosgate amps, and constantly had problems with them. And as far as subs, Alpine's are so pristine. I had a bottom level Fosgate, then I went to the top of the line power 8000 10", then I heard the Alpines, and I literally blew all of the MTX 8000's at my Circuit City so that I could get store credit and buy the Alpines. They didn't hit as hard but the sound was absolutely perfect and clear, I loved them and would highly recommend anything Alpine.

thanks SnowmanSteiner, I made up my mind about Alpine amps now the thing is that I heard that Infinity Sub wich more spensive than Alpine R series Sub's but people say Infinity Subs is all about quality.

Loud amps is not important for me, Quality is what I'm after here, to be honest I can't put the volume too high on my CDA-9815 because is to loud for me.

Id have to agree about rockford amps. They are way overrated. I mean literally. The power rating on those is a lie.

Id say for the money, the best mono sub amp you can get is the KAC-X401M from kenwood. Is an absolute beautiful amp and will EASILY drive 3 12's. Its 1/2 ohm stable.

The 501F is the stereo amp (4 channel) that matches it. You could get both of these on ebay for about 500 dollars. These are last years model. This years models are just as good but dont look as nice.

The alpine amps are very solid too. Also, you could try to find ANY amp made by Orion. They are AWESOME sound quality amps and very strong.

I worked in car audio for 3 years, Orion has some of the best stuff ive seen.

I would reccomend going with alpine. They do alot of R/D for their products and it shows . I am currently planning a mostly alpine sysem for my fc. The only part that wont be alpine is the bass amp and the bass subs. they wil be earthquake. THe site above has great prices on alot of quality audio equipment.
