Alpine CDA-7893 Question

Hey I just bought the Alpine 7893 http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/carau....asp?sku=12049 And I wanted to know out of those of you that have this head unit if you really need that fused cable running to your battery because it is 60 x 4? I have heard that this is just a gimick but that seems like a strange gimick to me but just wanted to see some feedback from you guys.

You need to run that units power cable to the battery. It really has a 30 Watt X4 (RMS) chip amp in it.

And don't forget to use a fuse for that connection to the battery within 12 inchs of the battery.
