after market seats

I want to know what kind of aftermarket seats everyone have for those who have replaced their seats. How big and tall is the driver, and how comfortable they are after installing the seats. Most of all fitment issues. I would like to buy after market seats, I am eyeing a Sparco Torino but I heard there are some fitment issues. If don't wan't to put anything in my car that I have to modify to fit.

Neo, are you talking about genuine mazdaspeed seats or the ones you can get off of ebay? If your talking about genuine, wouldn't those be insanely expensive?

What are you hoping to gain by installing aftermarket seats?

I think the stock seats look and feel good. I'm recoving mine with the leatherseats.com covers. So far, I've done the passenger side and it looks amazing considering the price. It's not nearly as hard as I was prepared for, either.

It depends a little bit on the options you select (perforated leather, suede, custom stitching in the headreasts, etc.), but for mine, which were black leather with perforated red leather centers, they were just shy of $600.

I haven't taken a photo of them yet, but they look identical to these:

You can get them all black if you want. They'll do them however you want them.

The genuine ones of course.

You're paying for quality, not a lot of seats bolt in with little effort. Plus they're price comparible with Recaro/Bride and such.

Whats wrong with the Fd stock seats? My car is a base model and I love my seats. The seats are 12 years old and they look brand new

to replace my hole tattered and dry rotting seats. the foam is pretty much gone so there's no sense of replacing the leather cover. besides people are asking for too much for used seats i might as well buy a nice after market one if i can find one that bolts right in.

OK. Now what's your budget?

Bride makes some very nice quality seats that will fit with no rubbing and even come with FD-specific rails. Pricewise, you would be looking at about $1800-1900 for both seats and rails.

Mazdaspeed and Recaro seats will be similarly priced.

You can also get Corbeau CR-1s or the Sparco equivalent for about $800-900 for both seats. They are not quite as good of quality and you will have to fabricate rails for them.

Buddy clubs are extremely light and I find them comfy, but thats just me.. It will be hard to go away from the stock seats, which are incredibly comfortable IMO. I drove for 6 hrs straight from LA to Los Gatos, my back felt fine, no aches or anything.

IMO the new bride low-max seats are the best, they sit lower, are light, come in reclineable and bucket styles, and look awesome. I would assume they would fit, but I'm not sure. If I was and they weren't 2k for one, I would have them in my car now.

hmm 1800 for a seat is way over my budget. I was looking at $600 a seat. Tsk tsk tsk the price i have to pay to get comfy seats. I drove from Hollywood to Mexican border and I back felt like someone tackled me from behind. I like those after market bucket seats because they feel softer(maybe just in my head) and they keep me in place when I'm turning hard.

FOr 600 a seat you have a lot of choices. Are you looking for reclineable's, buckets? What brand?

I just got back from Bride earlier to day and say their newest line of bucket seat called the ZETA SPORT(bucket). THey are so freaking light. MSRP is 650 but you can get them for 550 onwards from a local shop.
