Are you looking for something like the APR CF F1 mirrors?

I could care less about the size of my mirrors. My WRX has rally mirrors that are smaller than the vanity mirrors in the visors.
Any who, Ganadors work fine even though they are for RHD. Ive used them on the WRX and you can adjust them to work.
APR mirrors look like crap IMHO, but thats me.

Usually the ones you see that "hug" the car more or changed from the original physical position (moved to the door triangle, moved to fenders etc etc) are designed for RHD cars. This means, sitting in the drivers side LHD seat, you are now looking from the passengerside of the RHD. Youll be looking at your exterior door panels more than you will the road. Now given, you can still see the road, but it will take a bit more physical effort and adjustment of your head/vision than simply turning your head slightly.
I always have to bob my head back and forth and up and down to get a decent view of whats behind me from the drivers side of a LHD car with a RHD RE Amemiya mirror. The mirror motors simply dont allow enough travel within thier housings to be able to see past the side of your car more than 3 or 4 inches.

Could you remove the mirror and adjust it to work better?

you mean move the mirror glass itself inside the housing? Yes, but again, there isnt enough travel inside the housing for the mirror to angle itself in a manner that would allow you to see what you want to see, a.k.a the road.
Try sitting in your daily driver or fd in the passenger seat and get someone to angle the mirrors for you as youre sitting in the passenger side. Youll probably be able to see a little bit of the road behind you. Something you deffinately dont want in aftermarket mirrors on a street driven car.
