AC Vent Removal

Does anyone know how to remove the AC dash vents on an FD? I'd like to paint mine but I don't want to break the vents when removing.

when I get home, I will check. I took mine out April of last year to replace some of the dividers that broke.

Funny I was just about to post the same thing. The last time i did it i had to remove the entire dash because there are 3 or 4 screws that secure it from behind. I tried to get to them by removing the A/C panel but the screws are at a very akward angle that i couldnt get to. So instead of risking damage i removed the dash.

I would like to know if there is a easier way if someone knows?

You have to take out the radio to get up in there...As for the center vents, I know that there are screws that hold the piece in, and yes, there is at least one that's at an impossible angle to get to, so you must CAREFULLY snap the piece out without cracking any other areas. It'll fit back in nicely even with this one area snapped. I'm taking them out of one of my FD's right now too.

Interesting. The parts diagram doesn't show any screws for the parts. It shows plastic lips on the bottom sections of the dash and makes it appear as though they would pop right out. Maybe I'll second think this.

Here are pics of the screws the bottom one is easy to get to but the top one is impossible, if ypu get to it props to you. as you see the 2 in the middle wont need to be removed.

Is your car a 3rd gen? The vents you are showing in the pic don't appear to look like mine. I have one single vent in the middle of the car.

I get it. Sorry. Damn, this looks like more work than I originally anticipated.
