99 Spec Blue Color

So many have said that it's 1500 for a factory repaint, but woudl that apply to the blue that we never had? Is it a standard mazda color on any other cars (Protege MP3 I think maybe), and coudl I therefore get the paint job for 1500, or is it limited to the original colors that 7s came in?

If you are spending $1500, you can paint it any color you want! Sorry, I don't know the color code of the 99 blue.

Ya I cant find anybody to do a good job for less than $3000, where are you get this $1500 price? Becuase I will drive my car there and spend some much needed vacation time until it is finished.

Hmmm, I'm also looking to get my FD repainted after winter. The best (respectable shop) price I could find was $3000 which would include removing windows and everything else to do it right.

I thought the factory paint job was around $6000 USD?

hmm well if it aint 1500 then who knows, but I have read that a factory repaint was 1500, not a repaint by a shop but one done by mazda it sounded like. I only got that price from a post on the forum, apparently shouldn't believe everything I read, or something. Anyone know any facts on all this?

I don't think so Astro
hmm I just saw a real 99 one today and it looks different it's a little darker than the mp3. I found the factory options catalog here in Japan, I have it on the for sale section, email me if you want some...

That's what I paid last year. For $1,500, I repainted original Vintage Red, added a Racing Beat Type 1 Spoiler, had front 7 rear winshields removed and new gaskets installed and had the brak calipers painted red.

I shopped around and had quotes from $1,500 to $2,000 to $5,000 for the repaint. The $1,500 quote had a very good reputation, but not in the sport car market, so I went with him.

Came out absolutley marvelous!

I'd post a pic, but not sure how. I don't have a web site to store them on.

Burnt orange is ok on an FD of course on a car with a wild kit, and the right wheels, that color would look great...

Paint jobs vary sooooooo much, you really have to sit down, figure out what you want painted/removed/added on the car, and then go to a couple body shops and actually get a qoute. Usually the more detail you want, the more different things need to be removed, and the more the price goes ^^^. Paint jobs vary from a 200.00 Macco paint job to 5k-10k show paint jobs.. Plus body shops do have slower seasons of the year, and it may be possible to get a better qoute say in the fall compared to in the spring. Usually you get what you pay for, but I can't see spending 5k for paint on a daily driver either. That's a hell of alot of mods.
