I'm in

I'm just not sure about giving VIS a 99spec wing so they can have a mold that they will be able to use to make as many as they want.
But hey, I don't really care after I get mine

BTW, shouldn't this have been moved to the group buy section since we have all the details and making a list?

he makes a profit AND we get our wing..
i duno, somethin like that.
That's a pretty good idea.

I'm not trying to be a dick in this whole ordeal, just trying to bring light to the small important facts that some people are forgetting.

#1 - you need a spoiler, how about getting the spoiler and something in hardcore writing first that VIS will make this before having people sign up? My guess is your choices on getting the spoiler is to buy a new one (around $925-ish), be lucky to find someone to donate theirs, or buy a used wing. Which, buying used is damn near impossible. Other than that, jt-imports has used for $700-something.

#2 - Get a time frame on how long it will take to create once the donor is received at VIS (I'll guess 2 months).

#3 - Once you have the donor, schedule and agreement to make it if X number of people sign up, THEN start making a list and require a down payment to enter the GB list. As of right now all you have are a bunch of people who say they will buy, which we all know equates to about 50-75% who will actually follow through.

These are all excellent points, and I agree with them, seeing as how it is the consumer who will be handing over their money to such a deal.

I actually agree. All you have is a couple threads to see who would be "in" for the group buy, what people have been qouted as far as pricing, etc. Like said above, you really need to figure out a solid plan for the donation wing to start it(IMO set up a paypal account and anyone who wants in on this has to first donate $30.00 or so, or work it into the final pricing), time it will take them to make the mold, time it'll take them to get the first one out, plus need to figure out who's going to take care of the group buy and really be in charge of communicating with VIS, buying the first real wing to copy, etc.

Seems as if alot of people are jumping the gun, and it seems as the most "successful" group buys are the ones that have everything planned out with an exact price, ship date, who's in charge, etc.

Plus make sure this is OK'd by Jason

I think you are looking at a "donation" of around $70-100 per person for a donor wing. IF you get 10 people that is still only $700, and you cannot get a new 99wing for that....and like i said used are impossible to find from someone just selling one, and I am sure they would want at least $700+.

Therefore, I will take a stab and say the final price for someone buying this wing will be between $400 and $500 (donation, price of wing, shipping).

You're right you can't, it would be around $900.00 before it's all said and done for a donor wing. However I was under the impression that they were getting more people than that(20+) which would still be around $45.00-$50.00 a peice so I must have miscalculated, my fault.

Couldn't agree more. This is one of what, 4 VIS group buy threads now? I still have yet to hear anything solid. Sure, great if it happens.. but I'll wait to see some pics of production or something...

im in for a cf one... but i still have a problem with us buying the donor wing.... unless a ton of people chip in, we can probably save on shipping by haveing lets say all the wings shipped to one place and then the buyers pick them up... (pending the buyers are in close distance.

If it comes out to 500 a wing I think ill be better off getting the 99 spec that is already painted.

edit: just saw that was 315 shipped... nm count me in foshizzle

Price estimates. And Downpayments sound good to me. Why not VIS just factor the price of the original wing into all of this?
I'm sure they'll sell quite a bit, and they can be somewhat fair to us since they'll use the mold forever. And on the flip side, I'd be willing to paypal my downpayment asap to have them get started... as soon as we know the estimated price.

ya AMRAAM...i do agree with everythin uve said.
We'll definately get somethin in writing before we ask for money.
tiime frame is 6 weeks i think he said.
Wing: Yes, we have a guy lookin at one on JTimports, but lookin for some other ones too.
Pricing: we have a LOT of people who SAY theyre interestd...but we should be able to get at least 15 people...and for a used $750 wing...thats an extra 50 per person...and the most someone would have to spend on the wing itself is $365 shipped....which still beats ANY price ive seen w/ a carbon center blade, fully adjustable and OEM fit...

but nah, ur not a problem on the topic....ur making awesome points that definately need considering.

im callin VIS again tomorrow, but no downpayments will be necessary. pretty much all we'd be chipping in for is the wing and then you buy whichever one you want (the CF center blade or all fiberglass) straight from VIS and mention the group buy.

And Is it just me, or should VIS pay for the wing because they'll be making a profit off it in the end, so what's $700 to them?
and is the wing destroyed when making a mold!?
cant they just sell us the wing once the molds been made? (or keep it or sell it on the side for what they paid for it)

Exactly!
Plus, with VIS connections in Japan, they should be able to get one pretty cheap. I think we need to have them do some of the grunt work of finding a wing, and we pay the extra cost.

This is what I have been saying all along.

And yes, the donor wing will be no good after the mold is made.
