Question 3rd gen sub???

I am looking for a small sub for my FD. There is limited space in the trunk though, and I want to keep my spare tire. And I dont want to do any fiberglass work. JL Stealthbox would be cool, but I dont think that is gonna happen.

I think that my best option right now is a 8" bass tube. Does anybody have any better recommendations?

I heard that the Infinity Basslink is pretty good. It's very small 1 foot by 1 foot. However, good things come with big price tags. Crutchfield sells them for $370 I think. Almost twice as much as a 8" Bazooka. I don't know where would be the best place to mount it. It would be nice to mount it on the cargo divider (not the cargo cover). But, I assume that the bass may cause the panel to shake a lot and make lots of unwanted noises. Maybe the BassLink lovers can speak up!

i plan on running the infinity basslink on my car as well
i heard it on a friend's car and it sounded pretty awesome for a packaged sub
you can find them online for WAY cheaper than crutchfields 300++....like most things from crutchfield
theyre sometimes on ebay as well.

I used an alpine amp and a 6 1/2" Bazookz tube.....used extra wide velcro to steady the tube just behind the rear divider (under the strut bar). The velsro holds it very well as the exterior of the tube is carpet-like.

Sound is great, as sub can be controlled by the Kenwood in my dash.

In an emergency, the tube can be removed in a couple minutes. The sub amp is mounted under the rear carpet.

An 8" bass tube would stick up over rear strut bar. I had a 6.5 " bass tube, but the bass sounded lacking, it just did not have the right depth to it. So, I purchased a 2nd 6.5" tube, same thing. It did not give me the sound I wanted, no matter how I tweaked the controls. I sat in an FD with 1 12" in spare tire well. Oh, that made my setup sound weak. I loved it. I went to stereo shop and he suggested 2-10" subs, due to the fact they are smaller and hit tighter for rock music. They sound much better and can give me too much bass, but can be adjusted down, where my 6.5's could not give me enough. So, my suggestion(really dont know why u want to keep spare, but if you dont) is 1-12 or 2-10(these can really hit hard in our cars, oh let me tell you, but maybe even 2-8" in spare tire enclosure. For our cars, I think this would work good and If I did it again(Im not) for rock music, 2-8" might be the way to go. Maybe I can have a stereo shop, build me a box for 2-8" subs just so I can listen. I am happy w/ 2-10".
Tint back window and the whole setup cannot be seen. Look at my pics in post of subs in spart tire well.
Sorry that this doesnt help you out so you can keep your spare, I am just telling you my experience in trying to do same.

Steve
