3rd gen mirror idea?

My car has to go back to the body shop and they are re doing the doors. I was thinking of of having the stock mirror holes filed and installing in the same spot retro looking chrome mirrors. My rims have polished lips, and I think the chrome mirrors will look great. Could some one who is good at photo shop try posting something for Me? I have 1 week to decide. I have seen the retro mirrors on the front fenders but I think that is a bit to much. The car is a midnight blue metillic

Gordon, I was even going to go for a more dated look with the small manual adj. round mirror. What do you think that would be too much? The body lines of the car are so nice I dont want any side skirts but it needs something. I also went with your sugestion and ordered a set of chrome Voodoo shift and ebrake handles. I also picked up a neat retro chrome rear view mirror that I think will go perfect with the Voodoo items and the chrome sills.

Your car looks great inside and out.

I think you're running the risk of your modern-curves Rex sporting clashing era accessories. Sort of like a panasonic raver-light stereo in a '58 Impala... sure it looks nice up close but just looks wrong in the big picture.

Remember those Beetle Type2's in the 70's that people mounted fibreglas replicas of Rolls-Royce hoods on?

I've seen gordon's car in person and I think the Z8 mirrors look terrific-which they should considering the price! The Z8 mirrors look timeless, not retro imo. I don't think a boxy or externally jointed MG style setup would look as good.

FD Side Mirrors

East Bear makes an aero mirror kit that replace the stock door mirror (ugly) and comes with all fittings to plug up the hole. I checked it out here:

I have 2 days left before it is too late and then the mirror holes cant be filled. I have found 2 diff. mirrors. They are both chrome, both are manual adj, one set is a smaller round one and the other has the same mount with a slightly bigger rectangular mirror. I think I will pay the extra and get them filled. Gordon, I will mount the mirrors with tape and post some pics, if it sucks i will just get the stockers chromed. My car looks like the Batmobile already and everyones cars are looking the same with side skirts and body kits, I guess it wont hurt to try. I will post some pics on Mon. or Tues.
