The 3rd gen Mazdaspeed hood made for the 2nd gen

For years we have been looking at the picture of the purple 2nd gen, with the reverse cowl hood. Until now obtaining that hood has been impossible. I have a commitment from www.atihun.com to make the hood. They would create a mold utilizing a stock 2nd gen hood, and then molding the 3rd gen Mazdaspeed scoop to it. These guys make a very nice product, visit their site for pictures of their work. The cost would be 550.00 for fiberglass, and 850.00 for carbon fiber assuming a minimum of ten buyers, CF, and FG combined. The price following the initial buy would be up to the vendor, but figure an additional 100.00-150.00 per hood. The hoods would be reinforced as stock hoods. The hoods will utilize the stock hood closures, but hood pins are recomended by the manufacturer.
I know there are individuals working on there own hoods. I respect the work you are doing, but for me a professionally produced product, with the Mazdaspeed lines is what I want, and I believe it is what most people are looking for.
I can Email quality images of their 3rd gen product to anyone interested.
For those who would be ready to buy a hood upon seeing an acceptable prototype, I ask you to email me at cbyck@attbi.com. Send me your phone number, and FG, or CF. I will in return send large images of the 3rd gen hood, followed by pictures of the protype 2nd gen hood.
Let's not miss this opportunity, Thanks, Carl Byck

the Mazdaspeed vents are round.. i somewhat like the R-Magic version better (straight cut outs) like the one on the blue car.

They could make the R-magic, but we would need to buy one first. Anyone know the availability, wait, and cost? I had not noticed the square vs rounded vent, I'll ask, but for a really clean job they will want to mold an existing hood(mazdaspeed). One advantage to the mazdaspeed piece would be that we do not have to pay for the prototype directly.

Talking

It appears we now have enough buyers, after talking to the guys who have stepped up early, we will post a deadline for commitment. As I said before, do not expect to buy this hood for this price ever again.
Thanks, Carl Byck

Any one else? This may be a one time shot to own a hood that only 10-20 other will have in the world! In addition it is good looking, and functional. With proper accompanying mods I expect this hood to drop my temps 10-15 degrees at least. Carl

The group buy will be open until sunday the 20th of july.
All buyers need to send me an email with their phone number, and their address if they have not done so already. We may be able to ship the norcal hoods together to a central location in order to reduce shipping cost. All buyers need to be ready to send their 70.00 deposit in next week. The balance including shipping will be due once the prototype is approved. They can produce 2-3 hoods a week. Shipping priority will be given in the order of the original reponse to this thread(or me) assuming your deposit is recieved in a timely fashion.
Any one seriously interested, that still has questions should telephone me at 707-696-2705.
Thanks, Carl Byck
