3rd gen factory alarm

I just bought a '93 RX-7 Touring and I have a stupid question:

Did the factory alarm come with a keychain remote or does it just automatically arm when you lock the door?

The guy I bought my car from didn't have any sort of controller.

There was no remote lock/unlock. The system is armed when you lock the door with the key. One tip: it's a quirk of the design, but the system won't arm if you open the door before you take the key out of the ignition. You have to take the key out first, then open the door.

This was only true fo the early 93's the alarm was changed in later cars to remedy this "Quirk"

I also have a New in the Box late model Factory alarm unit for sale (used for 5 min for diagnostic purposes.)

My factory alarm will arm if I lock the door from the inside (w/o key) as long as I take the keys out of the ignition before I open the door.

If you lock the doors from inside w/ the doors closed and the key out, then open the door from inside it will trigger the alarm
Thats how I discovered for sure mine was working! To turn it off you have to put the key in the door lock or Ign, and turn it.
