Maybe this will shed a little light on it. They do have special antennas that are supposed to be mounted outside but someone mounted one in the hatch area of their FD and supposedly it works fine.

As for there being a fuse for your stock power antenna? I'm not sure but there is a wire that connects to the back of your cd player for your power antenna. Cut that wire and it will stop going up or down when you turn the radio on or off. Of course if you're going to shave the antenna then you'll be removing it anyways.

As for if the XM radio antenna has a special fuse? not sure.

Yes you have to use the special XM antennaes. There are several different models. XM says that you should place the antenna on the outside, but it should work fine on the inside, as long as it is directly beneath the hatch glass. You might run into a problem if you have a tinted rear window, though. I haven't installed my XM yet, but I am planning on mounting the antenna right in the middle of the rear hatch cover. And my XM uinit has a standard 15-A (I think) fuse. As for the AM/FM antenna, you can either unplug the power (underneath the trim panel), replace it with a fixed aftermarket antenna (S2000 style), or wire the antenna power to a cabin switch. If you have an aftermarket head unit, the antenna will most likely go up any time you turn the power on, not just the radio. Hope that was some help!

I installed my XM antenna on the front dash in front of the idiot lights and it works just fine. I have an FC so I didn't want to mount it on top of my rear speakers and there was no other place in the car to mount it. I think the damn antenna looks like a pimple when mounted on the outside of the car....

XM Rocks! Like I said earlier, I haven't installed mine yet, but my buddy has it. They have at least one station that is perfect for everybody. Some of the stations are commercial free, some have commercials, although much less than FM. Check out http://www.xmradio.com/ for the complete line up
