1991 fc stereo

well im trying to change my stereo sysytem
when i bought the car it had no stereo so i bought a sony xplode stereo but for some reason when i put the volume up to 20 or higher it turns off i don't know why could it be the stock amplifiers because their only 15watts

the speakers on the doors are kickers but you can hardly hear anything from them.
the stock speakers on the dashboard and you could hear those but the sound goes to your feet and you can't really hear them.
the rear speakers are alpine but they don't sound good anymore

a friend i know works as a car elecronics
and told me to get better sound quality from a car like this would be to rewire everything
and he's selling me kickers all 4 speakers with 2 tweeters for $135

Well, looks like you've answered your own question. Every time I've installed new speakers/deck in an FC I've removed the stock amps and run new wires. Never had a problem.

Yeah it's easy. Running new wire is also easy. On a difficulty scale of 10 it is a 1. If you can change oil you can take out old amplifiers and run new wire.

Running your highs and mid range speakers (not a sub) directly to a modern deck will give better sound that with stock amplifiers in my experience. If I remember correctly, the front two speakers go to one amplifier under the dash. If you know how to use a screw-driver, you can remove it. The rear speakers should have one for each speaker. Again, use a screw driver and set yourself free.

I don't know what your goals are, your capability or your current system is so I'm telling you what I can. You can always go for the ultimate and get crossovers to separate the frequencies, have a separate amp for lows and highs and another for subs ( if you want subs). Bottom line is the stock amps are useless in 2007.
