welcome to the board.
you could access the PM screen by either using the User CP tab at the top (right under the red FC) or the top right, where your screen name and is displayed with your last use time.
if you use the User CP tab, then you'll have to look for the Private Messages tab on the menu to your left. if you access it by clicking Private Messages under your screen name, then it takes you straight there.
if you happen to want to send a message to someone, then you can also click on their screen name and a menu will drop down, which includes Private Message. doing it this way will eliminate sending a message to the wrong person because of a misspelling.
