Paypal

Never occurred to me to use a credit card for my paypal funds - makes a whole lot of sense, protection wise. Isn't it possible that your credit card company would only protect you from paypal though, and not from the person you were actually buying something from? Just a thought......

itrader for sure. if possible, do it face to face so you know what you're getting and if not, follow Mars' instructions and keep all communication out in the open so there's people to hold each other accountable

check trader score as well as their post history, and be wary of how you pay for things as paypal isn't always a safe bet

You always have to be careful. I once bought a set of wheels using paypal. Basically, the guy sent an empty package with a tracking number to me. I tried disputing with paypal, but they said I had a tracking number and a delivered package. It took me two months to convince them that a set of wheels does not weigh less than 1 lb.:banghead:

Consider the PAYPAL FEES, too...

QUOTED FROM PAYPAL's OWN SITE:
"Selling something
Small Fee - PayPal fees mainly apply to sellers, who pay a 2.9% transaction fee on the total sale amount plus a $0.30 fee per transaction. There are some exceptions, listed below. If you have a business, see PayPal Merchant Fees for discounted rates and other pricing info."

A simple Bank Transfer cost about $25.00.

When a buyer insists on using Paypal after I told the Buyer of my RX7 (asking $11000) that a Bank Transfer would only cost him about $25.00, then SELLER BEWARE!

And aren't these BUYERS who insist on using PAYPAL always "OVERSEAS" and can't do business in person...LOL?

..and just to be clear, you Cannot Charge any Member on the Forum the Paypal Fees.(Forum Rules.)
If you state a price then take into consideration the fact that you are Eating those fees,so incorporate them into your Price.
You can research sellers on here by Hitting their Itrader number and looking at their feedback. Also you can search the Good Guy Bad Guy Sections and the Vendor Feedback sections.
Remember any transaction that isn't done "above board" ,like in PM's Or Emails..you are pretty well On your own.But if it is in Threads than you may be able to get help from our staff.

To detect scammers selling parts, just propose them to pick up the item in person and you should have your answer!

Mosdrft 02-02-13 06:39 PM

I think pay pal is the easier and safest way to buy and sell stuff. You always know where you send your parts and you could print your own shipping labels witch always better.

Benice28 03-02-13 12:51 AM

If I bought a rx7 man ill be excited to drive it back home. But at the same time I hope its not a disaster when you get to the seller. I prefer meeting up though.

avf 03-15-13 03:43 AM

Great info
I would pay with pay pal
always ask for how they ship and package would also be a good idea
since you dont want the item arrive in pieces

happened to me once when I got something off ebay
