I've used PayPal on many other forums and haven't had a problem. I usually only bought from legit sellers though.

Slobalt7 11-20-11 03:27 PM

I have used paypal on Cobaltss.net, and Carolinahondas.com before but I always deal with people I consider I can trust, I make sure they are a regular poster, and try to get feedback from the rest of the community on the Scammer lists and their past selling experience. CH is easy, just make a thread in "ganked" asking if so and so is a good seller and everyone will chime in who knows anything about the individual.

Unfortunately, you can't always determine who is legit or not until it is to late.

Even if they post a lot, you can get scammed, a person that had a ton of posts is who got me!

AmaraLezo 11-26-11 10:06 AM

best way is to just make sure the people have legit pictures and make sure that anything over 100$ is on paypal

fd3sRex7 11-27-11 09:03 PM

Thanks for the helpful info!

cvzg77r 12-05-11 09:20 PM

but me personally have never had an issue with paypal but ive only bought things with it from ebay or bhr

Schindler3 12-07-11 03:30 AM

Just from past experience, usually the people who are on here don't have much interest in stealing from one another. Especially with thread count limitations on what threads you can see/read. But better safe than sorry so i would just make sure they're as legit as possible.:egrin:

I like how helpful and insitefull everyone is on here

If it's one of our Forum Vendors, the answer is "yes."

also, regardless of what the seller requests, if you dont know them, do NOT send $ as a gift through PayPal.

yes, its true, there are less/no fees involved, but in doing so, you give up your buyers protection.

I only send money like that to people i trust. bear in mind its also against the TOS of PayPal, so they could lock your account if they see thats what happened.

Good information here.

You have to take caution when using Paypal as well as both the buy and as the seller. I had a guy buy a turbo off of me, I sent the turbo after he paid, and the day he got it, he filed a claim stating it wasn't what he purchased and he did a charge back on his credit card he paid with and I was out the turbo and the collected the money out of my account and locked my account! Paypal isn't always a "safe bet" like some people think. The seller can easily get scammed as well.

Sounds like you missed a step in your rush to unload the turbo...did you follow the process outlined below...?

Their "past selling experience" is what we call iTrader here and that's why it's so important to do two things every time you buy or sell parts or cars on this website!

First, always respond and set the terms of the deal in the classifieds ad thread itself and do not negotiate in PM's, texts, phone calls or Emails outside of the RX-7 Club website.

Second, on any transaction, check the goods or make sure you got your funds and then make sure you leave iTrader feedback on the Buyer/Seller every time !!

What did his iTrader score look like? Was or is there a thread on that member in the Good Guy or Bad Guy boards?

Homework people, homework. Especially, you guys who own FD's or are dealing in FD parts where that stuff is still crazy expensive.

i always pay paypal..more security espeically im from canada

destro76 02-23-12 11:20 PM

Some kind of Escrow service would be the ultimate piece of mind for a potential buyer. Especially someone like me who lives on the other side of the world to most who are selling things on here.

I don't know how feasible that would be though

7thseven 02-25-12 01:25 AM

I've been screwed on paypal before the 100 percent safe way to buy something is to pick it up.unfortunately that's not always possible ...

Janneman 03-08-12 10:27 AM

I usually don't have that much trouble buying/selling stuff via paypal, just make sure you can trust the person

AlekThimse 03-13-12 01:19 PM

Use caution in all online transactions and just as the admin said keep it posted on the bulletin board :)

Communications and payment for a sale

This is a query about how this site might work. First, once I get my post count and place my ad, the GTU would likely be of interest to someone close by. After all, this is not ebay. So, asking for a regular or certified check/cash should not logistically pose a problem. But the question/answer to and fro is not clear to me if we are to restrict communication to the medium of this site. (Of course it may clarify once I actually get to the selling part of the site.) Here's my Q: Do you get your own thread for Q/A or do you search all over for questions re the sale?

chogunna91 03-30-12 04:54 PM

cash, and have 9mm loaded lol

ricertrash402 04-01-12 02:04 AM

There is no real safe way to shop on here you buy at your own risk...:(

88WIDEBODY 04-09-12 05:58 PM

Yuppers definetly do your homework and use paypal. It will protect you in the end.

chogunna91 04-25-12 02:26 PM

It should be like any forum, use paypal if not local.
