Question posting limits grr

Moderators, please tell me I'm not going to be limited by every 5 or 10 posts acquired from posting in a new thread category?

IF you care to read the INFO the only stipulation on Posting limits is In Greeting New Members.
That was created for the simple fact that Guys are joining to Zoom to the Classifieds and their main purpose in signing up is to snag parts.
It is a CAR Forum and not a One Stop Parts Connection.Join the Club, making you a "true member" and get to use the Classifieds.simple.
Previously it was established that New guys hopped on,posted "welcome Bro"..15 times In the INTRO Section and then went off to Buy parts.
NOT Happening now..Don't Test it.The door swings the other way,Quick.
This 3 Greeting Rule separates the wheat from the Chaff..the Enthusiast from the Parts monger.
It's a Nice little atmosphere here, and we try to make it a CLUB.In order to do that we need to control 100 thousand people Typing posts, and viewing, selling etc.
I'm sure you have your thoughts on that,But the Rules that are set in place Work just fine.
Notice that there are Many sections of the Forum. They were created for Members that actually use the Forum for which it was intended.
If you have a FD,you go to 3rd Gen specific.
Want to fix your Fuel delivery on your Haltech?.Haltech section.
So,if your disgruntled, then you are not looking at the big picture.Which is: If 100 thousand people can conform to the Club Policy and One person Can't..then some ONE is gonna be lonely and out in the cold,Not comfortably snuggled up to the Info that this Forum has to offer.
Minumum posts keep "Welcome BRO" OUT of the Middle of a Discussion about "why is 95% duty cycle on my Fuel a bad thing?".
Picture a Doberman running over and taking a Dump on YOUR nice green lawn.
Get the Point?
..
It works..so,logic says that you don't try to change stuff that works.

So,if you go back and read the INFO at the Top of the Intro section you can enlighten yourself with the Policies of this Fine Club.
Reading 2 threads gets you NINE posts...(you can find out which ones by reading the Top of the Intro section.)

Thanks,STYX MOD)

Chaff in the form of sellers I would imagine would be something that would be hard to get rid of, it just depends on the determination of the individual, I'd think. Probably not something you want to resolve with the removal of the section in its entirety. If were a classifieds only section though, that could be a unwanted strain on the server, I guess.

I will disclaim that the final straw that did pull me into jumping the hoops, signing up, and facing the perilous task of making some posts (I don't think there's much threat in color for those comfortable in their identity, is there?) rather than lurking and watching aaroncake's youtube videos was the prospect of the classifieds as I have a vehicle/few problem parts to resolve myself.

then again, you've probably heard this same argument more than a few times (use the search!)

and a final note/test, it seems like clicking the color from the swatches tags it,but clicking the icon to change text to the selected color gives an RGB value
or not

edit: not sure how I happened across a color bug, maybe, let's try:
this
or this

edit 2:Ah, I was going to complain about posting requirements for the regional forums, but that seems like even more of a dead horse

I was in the same boat here. I'm working on getting my 10 posts so I can start using the classified section (I think this will be 10 lol). I completely understand why it is done this way, which is why I've tried my best to follow "newbie" procedure and get my 10 posts the recommended way. Honestly it wasn't hard.

But one recommendation I might throw out there is taking into consideration how long an account as been active. I apologize if this has been discussed before. I've been a member here for like 4 years. I've never needed to post anything because the glorious wealth of information has given me everything I need. Now that I'm looking into selling my car, my first thought was to use the forums and essentially "give my car back" to the rx7 community in a way. While getting to 10 posts is not difficult, I was a little caught off guard that first time I was hit with the "10 posts required to post a topic" guideline.

Just my 2 cents I have always loved these forums, and will abide by any and all required guidelines!

I empathize with you on that, but until you gain a certain amount of posts to tell the "site" that you are "here for the info and not the Beer" then it just considers you a Newbie.
If you didn't accumulate posts when you signed up in say 2008 then, for all intents and purposes you still do not know the rules...and rules change.
That is why Every New Member must go through the same "initiation sequence" of making sure they are aware of where they post and how they post.
The Forum is geared towards the Guy looking for INFO and it's Classifieds section is Guarded by the Minimum post count.
Members can use The classifieds but Newbies basically have to Earn it.
Why should a Die hard enthusiast lose parts to another Dude off the street who signs up,buys stuff and leaves,.. signing off to never use his membership again?
We cater to the Die Hard, and try to keep that from Happening.
A lot of Us Guys work hard on our cars.So why not keep them going by dealing amongst REAL Rx7 Owners, not Fly by night "gotta sell this and that to pay rent" guys.
NOTE: It may be nice that you have been a member for a while and you have a Car For Sale, but at the same time,NO preference is given if you do not have the Posts. So for that,Sorry man!..no Soup for you!
Remember according to your post count you are New TOO!..so unfortunately "we" can't give you a break on that..
If we did, then the rules would not be worth the words that in essence hold 100 thousand guys together on One Website...in Harmony...would it?
But Good luck.

Either this is for security purpose or protection from the spammers. Anyhow currently I'm get tired of it, Moderators this thing should be tell before posting so that no one get irritated.

..and that is all nice and peachy.
But did you notice that this is not the "other" car Forum?
We have rules, and you can read them.If you don't read them, they get TOLD to you,and if that is done TWICE it is BYE.
You remember that little box you checked when you signed up?
*I agree to the terms and conditions of this club*
SO let's make this simple for you.
RULES THREAD:
RX7Club.com - Announcements in Forum : Introduce yourself
RULES:https://www.rx7club.com/introduce-yo...-read-1025248/
RULES:https://www.rx7club.com/introduce-yo...-only-1028341/
All of this INFO is posted at the Top of the INTRO section and clearly viewable. Why it gets overlooked is anyone's guess.
The Rules of this Club differ from the rules of "another Club" so this is why we ask that you read them.
Our Large membership needs to have some form of Regulatory body. The Rules help us from having 100 thousand people doing whatever the Hell they want.
If anyone doesn't like the rules,it is simple. The door is well lubricated to make your exit just as easy as it was to come in.
Simple in a nut-shell,follow the rules. Which are really just respect others, post reasonably and don't abuse the forum for personal gain.
I hope to see you on the Forum.
Drive safe and don't hit nothing!

Not particularly sure what the issue is with a forum having a rule against post counts for new members. Clearly you can see this is my 43 post ever and I've been a member for 8 years. Rules are rules, if you want a website to be different I can point you to a hosting service my buddy owns and you can very easily make your own and then I'll get free hosting

This site has proven itself just by achieving it's membership count.
I can show you a half dozen other Rotary related Car forums that were started as a result of someone not wanting to be here..but they are not frequented as often as this one.
Anyone can start another Forum, but will they have the following?
Just the info alone is reason to stick around,it has taken years to accumulate.
It makes the Rules redundant when it comes down to it,as you just want to find out what you need and fix your car..maybe see what others have done to their car.
The post count is a regulatory hurdle..small jump to the big section. Those who don't want to be active enough to jump that hurdle may wish to seek other venues. We urge the Jumpers to stick around!
The forum has lasted so long because of dedicated members. If you can't get 10 posts then that raises the question of: why did you register?..parts/wtb?.I bought this car to flip it and know Squat about it??..Ebay was offline?

I commend your 8 years of dedication.Your heart is definitely triangular and pumps premix!
The new section has it's "dunno about this yet"..We have to try to maintain the atmosphere of the forum with helpful sections and a dedicated membership,so that the New Guy can use the Forum and get the advice at hand.
Small hurdle..Big pay off.

The spirit of this site is readily apparent at the top of every page, it's in the banner and its subtle but it is a tip of the hat.

This forum is massive, both in post count and dedicated member count, for it to remain functional and useful the community must be tempered accordingly. If you stick around long enough(won't take very long) you'll see who knows their stuff.

My point about my time vs post count above is that there isn't often anything I can say that has enough value to waste space on a server. It's not that it isn't important but that I feel its already immediately available elsewhere on the board.

You will be told to search if you ask a question that's been asked trust this, almost all of them have if you're new to rotaries.

On the original subject of this thread, you could be discussing the civility available on this board in this thread right now and it would be getting you to the minimum post count.

I totally agree.
Yes some guys to resort to "Search" as it most likely wasn't handed to them either.Others will take the time to give you the Info even though it is Readily available.
I think the SEARCH word is used when guys think that it can be handed to them without them actually looking at the Multiple posts on the topic. That is what sets off the whole "SEARCH!!!" thing.
My start on here was reading hour after hour..but I am not 21 and leaving to go tag a Babe at the bar in 20 minutes so I need my Info NOW scenario..lol.
Patience seems to be a Hollywood name and not a Virtue anymore.

On the other hand,If members would have read the Rules laid out at the top of the Intro section, new members would have had ONE post less than the required post minimum...to post elsewhere..
So Minimum post count..PFFT!...piece of cake.pass a fork,..yummy!

linky has been a member for a few minutes max and already has multiple posts even though he's bumping threads about coolant in oil that aren't his thread at all and making entirely pointless comments on others because he's trying to get around the post count.

I'll be interested to see what he's trying to sell.
